ABSTRACT: The number of patients starting ESRD therapy continues to increase, although this report shows evidence that the incidence rates are growing at a slower pace than they did in earlier years. The number of patients undergoing ESRD therapy also continues to increase, but the rate of increase is down to 7% from 9% to 10%. There is some uncertainty in these estimates in part because the reporting of non-Medicare patients has changed.
